Learn How to Be an Effective Mental Health Advocate


MHA/NC is hosting an ADVOCACY TRAINING series this fall!

October 28th, 2008 - Wilson, NC at the Agricultural Center

November 4th, 2008- Lenoir, NC at the JE Broyhill Civic Center

November 7th, 2008- Raleigh, NC at the Cameron Village Library

This training will help individuals build skills to be effective mental health advocates and expand their appreciation of the value of advocacy and public policy. The goal of the training is to enhance ones' abilities to advocate at a state and county level for the best mental health services possible.  (Please note: this training is not intended to address individual self-advocacy for personal services.)  The session will run one-day, 10:30AM - 2:30PM. The scheduled presenter is Jennifer Mahan, Director of Policy and Advocacy Initiatives at the Mental Health Association in NC. This training is open to all: family members, consumers, health workers etc...Lunch is provided and the training is free, but you must register.
